Business success - Group of diverse colleagues having a laugh together

Our Volunteer Community

VoRTCS volunteers come from all walks of life and may be students, teachers, professionals, trades people, parents, international students, grandparents or someone who’s recently moved to Brisbane.

What we have in common at VoRTCS is the belief that refugees are a valuable addition to Australian Society with the potential to contribute valuable skills, gifts and talents to our communities and deserve to feel welcomed, supported and safe upon arriving.

In 2014, we had 505 dedicated volunteers provide vital tutoring support to over 178 newly settled families in the Greater Brisbane area (that’s over 900 refugees!). Every week we receive more requests from organisations assisting families and we aim to continue inspiring the wider community to get involved by giving them a ‘hand up, and not just a hand out’.
